At the foot of the old town of Marburg and the historic old university building there lies the Rudolphsplatz. The plaza forms a pivot point connecting different districts. The road running above it is a traffic junction. In 2022, the plaza will be the centre of the art festival .KUNST.LABOR.STADT.PLATZ that will artistically revisit its design and the way nature, culture and the city and society interact.
NAME
August Rudolph (1816 – 1893) was mayor of Marburg for over 30 years. The central traffic junction ‚Rudolphsplatz‘ is named after him.
The Hiobsbar, loacted in the underpass to the Rudolphsplatz, will reopen in 2022.
The coffee bar in the glass pavillon at the Rudolphsplatz reopened in 2021.
In 2010, the counseling center with integrated care support center – shortversion: BiP – was opened. In addition to the care support center of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district, the Alzheimer Gesellschaft Marburg-Biedenkopf e. V., the Marburger Verein für Selbstbestimmung und Betreuung e. V. and the Freiwilligenagentur Marburg-Biedenkopf e. V. can be found in the municipal building. The services offered by the University City of Marburg on the subject of aging and care include the care office/specialized housing counseling as well as assistance for the elderly and planning for the elderly.
